Go Hike Poster

Graphic Design

For my Information Design class I was assigned a client whose information design product I would develop. Using the Concept/Design Brief I created I gathered information on my client and what they wanted. From these notes I created a poster according to their specifications Using Photoshop and InDesign.

Tools
  • Adobe InDesign

  • Adobe Photoshop

Client Specifications

At the beginning of this class we each created out own design brief to use to get an outline of design projects and get a clear understanding of what our future clients want. I gathered that my client wanted a large poster that encouraged people to sign for her hiking trip. Along with the logo she design she wanted the poster to have:

  • Vintage retro vibes

  • National Geographic/ National Park poster similarities

  • Larger background image of the Washington cascades mountain range

  • Earth tones, Cream, and Green colors

I started looking at retro/vintage travel posters and National Geographic covers for inspiration. I took the off-white boarder from posters like these.

First Draft

I wasn’t happy with my first attempt. I took to Photoshop and changed the coloring of the background photo to make it more harmonious. I also applied Dust & Scratches and Noise to add to the vintage feel.

Final Design

I also corrected some spelling and leading and moved the logo around. This is the final design which the client was very happy with
